Ever since creating Advance Rockhampton, a tourism growth organization exactly like Rockhampton, council has the responsibility of marketing and tourism plans for the region in its hands.
This additional responsibility has created the requirement for a definite and well-paid new responsible position for tourism focused strategic marketing.
General manager of Advance Rockhampton, Tony Cullen, mentioned that he was pretty thrilled to see the potential of the position and that it had to offer and was keen to fill it soon.
To quote him, “Tourism is one of our region’s greatest strengths. From the historic town of Mount Morgan to being the barra capital of Queensland, Rockhampton is a must-visit destination no matter what holiday people are looking to have. Council has already taken its economic future into its own hands with the creation of Advance Rockhampton – which has tourism as one of its key pillars.”
The potential tourism coordinator would be accountable for developing marketing and communication proposals, yearly business plans and increasing visitor numbers.
Also, they would be managing the information centres in the region, ensuring they were completely functional and maintained within budgets.
