The Sharjah Old Cars Club (SOCC) showcased Sharjah’s rich cultural heritage at the prestigious World Travel Market (WTM) 2024 in London, as part of the Sharjah government’s tourism delegation.
The club’s participation emphasized the emirate’s dedication to promoting its unique tourism assets, with classic cars taking center stage as a highlight of Sharjah’s cultural appeal.
Board member Saud Ali Al Matrooshi expressed pride in representing Sharjah, noting the significant role that classic cars play in enhancing global tourism. Al Matrooshi pointed to popular events like Path 71 and the Sharjah Classic Cars Festival as crucial initiatives that position Sharjah as a leading cultural hub.
By showcasing rare cars, such as the iconic 1960 Ford GT 500, SOCC provided WTM attendees with a glimpse into Sharjah’s automotive history, sparking interest in the emirate’s unique attractions.
In addition to the event’s displays, SOCC aimed to promote the Sharjah Classic Car Museum, an essential destination for car enthusiasts, further underscoring Sharjah’s forward-thinking approach to tourism.
According to Al Matrooshi, these efforts contribute to Sharjah’s growing reputation in the classic car tourism sector, aligning with the emirate’s vision of innovative tourism development.
The event was attended by Mansoor Abdullah Abulhoul, UAE Ambassador to the UK, alongside Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, and other SOCC board members, highlighting the high-level support for Sharjah’s initiatives on the global stage.
