On Tuesday, the Stutsman County Commission has collectively sanctioned tourism funding requests for several projects.

Jamestown Tourism Executive Director, Searle Swedlund, said the commission that this request is characteristically made as part of the historical mill levy.

The commission has accepted a request to support projects at Frontier Village, Stutsman County Museum, and the Jamestown Arts Center.

Also, for joint library services between the county and city of Jamestown, the Commission has approved to lengthen a contract. Commission Chair, Mark Klose, reported that on the agreement, he has been working closely with Mayor Dwaine Heinrich.

If the county were to cease joint services, a two-year notice would need to be given.

The one year, Klose says would offer the city and county a chance to “iron out” the agreement.

Also, the commission collectively approved the appointment of Maureen McGilvrey as the next Stutsman County treasurer/recorder.
