Though it’s under the jurisdiction of North Corporation, tourism activities at the lake are being administered by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) of the Delhi government on lease.
To quote a tourism department official, “The boating in the lake was resumed on August 14 this year. It was decided to start the boating services after restrictions because of COVID-19 were lifted recently.”
A senior official of the horticulture department of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation have explained that cleaning process is also being done on a regular basis and initiations are being taken to make sure that there is no mosquito breeding.

Since the cases have come down and recreational and amusement activities have also begun at different parks, so there was a demand from visitors to resume boating services in the lake. The tourism department has now restarted boating facilities in the lake.”
He also stated that a ‘good spell’ of monsoon has helped side by side in maintaining the right water level in Naini Lake and has contributed to recharging the ground water level. The official has also mentioned that due to excess water, pavements and grills along the lake have got broken a bit.
