The famous maritime city, situated in the Bay of Biscay along the Atlantic Ocean is a center of smart tourism innovation and introducing experiences related to smart tourism by combining progressive thinking and an aptitude to look further the horizon. For each visitor, Bordeaux provides the opportunity to jump into the way of experiencing of the city via a sequence of grand urban renewal projects, making use of the knowledge of the experts of Bordeaux to stimulate the information available and integrative sustainable planning.

Bordeaux makes use of the knowledge accumulated by its residents to update and manufacture the webzine “Un air de Bordeaux”, regularly. For the visitors, this publication provides an insight into the best things to do in Bordeaux, which events that are happening and whether to attend or not, and tips and tricks for unraveling Bordeaux. And by making the use of the 160 km of GR-accredited pedestrian walkways and paths of the city, any visit to Bordeaux will undoubtedly be sustainable and adventure.

Ahead of this, Bordeaux provides visitors the chance to witness true urban regeneration with the Bassins à Flot district planned by Nicolas Michelin, an urban architect. In Borbeaux, Nicolas transformed an industrial wasteland into a prosperous financial and tourists centre for the visitors. It is here that the well-known La Cité du Vin, the wine museum, can be found. In the Darwin Ecosystem, an additional smart tourism experience can also be discovered.
