The newly appointed Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Barbados, Ian Gooding-Edghill, has hit the ground running. Last week, after taking part in the 2022 World Travel Market in London, Gooding-Edghill has got connected with the cruise industry partners as he and other stakeholders of Barbados had a discussion with delegates from the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association based in Miami and Royal Caribbean Group and had much more to talk about the plans and outlook of the island for its tourism product.

Recently in an interview featured by the Caribbean Tourism Organization, he threw light on the positive news connected with the reactions from Barbados’ travel partners, comprising travel advisors, tour operators, and airline partners, along with recent opportunities related to investment and strong health safety rules and policies.

The Minister Gooding-Edghill, said that good news is that their airline partners are raising airlift to Barbados. He added that for them, it’s a welcome accomplishment and also expressed approval for Virgin Atlantic and British Airways for their powerful support in restarting the flight services once again to the eastern Caribbean places as soon as possible after simplifying the restrictions related to COVID.

The minister also mentioned that they had to come at the WTM, continue with their engagement with them and surely as they continue with those talks, they are also happy that Virgin will continue with Manchester service for the winters. We are also delighted that British Airways will also continue with the number of flights that they have and that again is bringing additional airlift to Barbados,” the Minister noted.
