The UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili led an official UNWTO delegation to Paraguay.

There he met with Paraguay President Abdo Benitez and discussed the major challenges and prospects regarding tourism in Paraguay and finding out the methods of working together for growth.

Paraguay at present works as Chair of the UNWTO Regional Commission for the Americas. It is a member of its Executive Council.

An active role like this in the assignment of the UNWTO emphasizes the Paraguay government’s pledge to establish the country as one of the top tourist destinations of the region and the tourism segment as a driver of ecological expansion.

The UNWTO Secretary-General Pololikashvili said that Paraguay is now on the global map as a destination, and by working together, the UNWTO and the Paraguay government can make this lovely country known far and wide and make tourism significant for generating jobs and prospects for financial evolution.

Paraguay President Mario Abdo Benítez launched a special conference on Renewable Energy and Sustainable Tourism. It was held against the background of the UNWTO.

Benítez said that the job of the national government is to boost Paraguay as a destination and is part of their plan to create income, reinforce Paraguay’s culture and provide opportunity to a lot of young folks, who as the UNWTO Secretary General said, possess the prospective to be tourism’s utmost strength.
