To attract tourists, Tamil Park & other attractions in the offing

At Pondy Marina, proposals about a ‘Tamil Park’, a toy and natural history museum in Murungapakkam and theme parks have been presented for the tourism sector in the Budget in the Assembly on Monday.


There will have a Bharathiar statue at Tamil Park along with a recreational area and an entertainment zone on the Pondy Marina.


At Vambakerapalayam, Nallavadu, Kalapet, Puthukuppam, Veerampattinam, Murthikuppam, Karaikal and Murthikuppam beaches, beautification and developmental works will be done.


Veerampattinam temples and the heritage Karaikal religious places will be expanded and in those areas, pilgrim facilities will be created with the help of the Indian Government. The Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy said that sound and light show along with multimedia shows will be developed in Puducherry and Karaikal.


Also, proposal has been forwarded to develop Bahour lake, Mullodai Lagoon, Oussudu Lake, Kanakan Lake, and check dam at Alankuppam lake, Chunnambar for activities related to eco tourism.


At Manapet village in Puducherry, the Tourism Department has100 acres of beach front land which is tailor-made to be expanded into multi-tourist attractions. The Department has already provided the vital amenities like road and power. It is proposed to build up resorts, theme parks, convention centers, adventure sports with private participation and film studios, Mr. Rangasamy said.


In the policy related to Water Sports, the right kind of amendments are planned to draw more private participation. This year, a comprehensive guideline will be notified.
