To boost tourism, Thailand extends visa exemption

To boost the tourism industry of Thailand, the government and officials of health have extended the exemption period of international travel visa. Thailand’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration spokesperson, Taweesilp Visanuyothin, explained that the organization has sanctioned the extension from 30 days to 45 days and it would be between October and March 2023, as per the Bangkok post.


Also, the Thailand government has disclosed that the Visa on Arrival would be extended as well from a maximum of 15 to 30 days. It would start from October 1st. The decision was supported by the Ministry of Interior, Immigration office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and related agencies.


The CCSA stated that it was making alterations to draw greater number of international travelers which in return would help to revitalize the domestic economy which got damaged by the pandemic and the succeeding shutdowns.


Dr. Taweesilp told The Bangkok Post that they are keen on expanding their stay as this will increase tourist spending, renew the falling economy and decrease pandemic’s ill impact. The main target is for people to be able to coexist with COVID-19 in one piece and live lives normally.


The Tourism and Sports Ministry of Thailand said that there’s an expectations for 10 million travelers coming from abroad this year, with more than four million coming in the months between January 1 and August 16.


Thailand in July 2022 concluded its quarantine-free entry program, Thailand Pass.
