In recent weeks, at the Madrid Barajas Airport, long queues should get eliminated as the Spanish police is all set to hire more staffs for managing the rush in tourism from relieving the restrictions of COVID-19; the government confirmed this on Tuesday.
A total of 600 officials with 200 new hires will now be working at the airport to manage tourist flow from abroad which has tremendously increased in the last few weeks, the government spokesperson of Spain, Isabel Rodriguez, informed the reporters in a recent news conference. She also mentioned that other airports of her country are also witnessing a rise in tourists and they would get more staffs too.
In Madrid, the long lines are quite the same at the airports in Amsterdam, Britain and other countries in Europe because of travel resumption as situation related to pandemic gets better with eased restrictions.
On Monday, Iberia, the International Airlines Group’s Spanish unit, had protested against delays and disorders at the Barajas Airport passport control, Madrid, and explained that on March 1st almost 15,000 passengers missed their flights.
Spanish Interior Ministry refuted that no one had missed a flight at the airport.
The ministry stated in a statement that in recent months, the National Police for missed flights did not register a single complaint.
The statement also said that there are no long lines or waits that go beyond on- time situations made by several flights from outside the Schengen area.
