To develop tourism, Kumarakom gets a master plan

The attractive canals, tree lined trails and the expansive mild waters that border Kumarakom are all prepared to welcome an additional boost in infrastructure with the Centre taking in the backwater village under the overhauled Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme.

Cooperation Minister, V. N. Vasavan, as part of it, has recently assembled a meeting on Wednesday of three-tier local body representatives together with the officials concerned at Kumarakom. The conference precedes a main meeting convened on Monday here which saw the participation of K. V. Bindu, the
panchayat president, V. Vigneswari, District Collector, K.K. Padmakumar, deputy director of Tourism, Robin C. Koshi, District Tourism Promotion Council secretary among many others.
