On Sunday, the tourism marketing body of Kenya said that it is leveraging regional golf clubs spread all over the country with a mission to encourage domestic tourism.

The chief executive officer of the state-owned Kenya Tourism Board, Betty Radier, said that the body in ten golf clubs has planned series of golf tour tournaments. These clubs are distributed across the prime tourist attractions in Kenya with an aim to make the six-month-long domestic tourism campaign famous which was launched in July.

Radier said that they will be arranging golf tour tournaments in all the main tourism regions of the rift valley, Nairobi, central, coast, western and eastern regions as they are keen on spreading this campaign far and wider.

She noted that via the Magical Kenya Golf Tour, operators as well as partners will have a chance to network and sell packages related to travel with golf players and other people through the mall and corporate visit activities.

Radier observed that domestic tourism perked up the tourism at the time of the pandemic when international travelers were extremely low in numbers.

Radier added that the domestic market has proved its flexibility during hard times as seen during the pandemic and that’s why they are unraveling new opportunities to tap into its potential.

Gladys Kosgei, the head of Marketing at the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), stated that national parks are set to profit from growing visitation.
