On Wednesday, Namibia introduced an exclusive tourism digital marketing campaign. This campaign was launched with an aim to reconstruct the confidence of the consumers and drive travel revival post-COVID.

The space of global tourism is an intensely cutthroat market, as majority of destinations have witnessed the ill impact of COVID-19 and at present, are looking for their share of the same global travel market, Pohamba Shifeta, the Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, mentioned this at the event organized for the launch in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.

He said that the tourism industry in digital travel technology wishes to be at the boundary of innovation leadership, as the industry is thinking once again and re-imagine travel and destination marketing in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Shifeta explained that the application of technology is creating opportunity for a direct channel of connection between trade partners, markets, and influencers in the consumer sphere and the media, altering the way that tourists interrelate with destinations and with each other.

Shiheta also said that as a tourism destination, Namibia is vying with the rest of the world. Online presence is considered as tourism infrastructure. Shifeta added that just as websites are necessary, presence in social media is crucial and for Namibia, to be correctly remaining present online, the industry should be authorized and given enough confidence to get engaged online and create an influential tourism profile of the country.
