With the Saudi Tourism Authority, the Trip.com Group in China has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with a mission to promote Saudi Arabia as a major tourism destination. As part of the agreement, Saudi Tourism Authority and Trip.com will start on a joint marketing operation in numerous markets to create awareness and draw tourists to Saudi Arabia via Ctrip, Trip.com, Travix, and other travel companies.

These markets are as follows- China, Germany, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, UK and South Korea. Besides, both parties will initiate several capacity-building and knowledge-sharing initiatives as well in different aspects, like sustainability, digital payment solutions, ticketing, and training. The CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, Fahd Hamidaddin, said that with market capability and advanced technology of Trip.com Group, he believes that the joint venture will give confidence and attract greater number of visitors to Saudi Arabia worldwide and enhance revival in the global tourism sector even more.

Trip.com Group in November 2022 signed a contract to market Qatar as a family-friendly tourism destination. An agreement in May 2022 with Abu Dhabi was signed. The Chief Operating Officer of Trip.com while speaking at the Skift Global Forum East, Schubert Lou, said that on the new Chinese travelers, old marketing strategies would not yield any result. Earlier, Saudi Arabia had said that by 2030, it’s all set to draw 3.9 million visitors from China annually.
