For the region’s international tourism damaged by COVID-19, the Central Australian tourism industry has welcomed the Territory Government’s $12.8m support. In the forthcoming days with Australia’s borders all set to reopen once again, the NT government will introduce a series of steps that would help solve looming skills shortages.
This month, Australia will reopen its borders to vaccinated travellers. It will end the two years of tough times of the tourism sector, stimulating migration and injecting billions of dollars into the world No. 13 economy.
In recent months, Australia had adopted measures to ease down border controls, like permitting skilled migrants and quarantine-free arrangements in travel – “travel bubbles” – with select countries like New Zealand.
The reopening will happen on Feb. 21, represents the first time since March 2020 that as long as they are vaccinated, people can now visit Australia from everywhere in the world.
“If you’re double-vaccinated, we look forward to welcoming you back to Australia,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison said at a media briefing in Canberra.
