To transform the tourism sector, the chair of New Zealand Māori Tourism is welcoming around $54 million fund.

This financial aid will help the projects that decrease c emissions of carbon, resulting from tourism, improve the environment of nature or biodiversity, pick up productivity via technology, or encourage and defend taonga Māori throughout the Aotearoa visitor journey.

Dale Stephens explains that its planned to get tourism moving in the road to Maori tourism.

He said that for all our tourism operators, it’s a great opportunity to look carefully at what they’re doing at this moment, the way they could do it better or what they could do that’s novel and bring that fresh offering to the forefront, apply for the financial support, get support from Maori Tourism to ensure that they tick all those boxes and they really improve and grow their sector.

Already, Maori Tourism has developed a new regenerative tourism role that would help operators to come up with new ideas to grow tourism in their role.
