TOFT India, the nature-based travel trade association that primarily aims on propelling in South Asia more sustainable travel arranged the first workshops on “Sustainable Tourism” on August 5th together with Travelife in New Delhi to sensitize the travel sector.
Travelife is a fair and reasonably priced system. It helps the tour operators along with the travel agencies to direct as well as develop social and environmental influence by abiding by with the criteria related to sustainability.
To attend the workshop, Robin Boustead, Travelife Coordinator for South Asia, flew in and addressed all the attendees who took part in it and shared his thoughts on the practices followed in the international markets related to sustainable tourism. He explained that world-famous OTAs and international travel companies have by now started taking on sustainability and emphasizing their partners to adhere to it and do business sustainably and sensibly.
He was quite anxious about international companies which are not interested or refuting to do business with India and companies based in here for the lack of following sustainable practices. He cited an instance of trends where travelers are keen on paying 38 percent higher cost for sustainable travel compared to conventional unsustainable products and places. Robin also stated that Travelife certification implies doing business in an improved way and creating partnerships with businesses and people who think in the same ethos of sustainable business.
