Tour officials in Cyprus witness another record-breaking month

CyprusTour officials have witnessed a fresh record high in September 2017 thanks to a spike of about 14.8% as compared to the same month of 2016.

 

On the basis of the results of the Passengers Survey released on Tuesday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, tourist arrivals have touched 483.716 in September 2017 as compared to 421.201 in September 2016, recording a rise of about 14.8%. Actually September 2017 observed the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus in the specific month.

 

For the period between January and September 2017 tourist arrivals had totaled 3.001.603 as compared to 2.617.218 in the corresponding period of 2016 that recorded a rise of nearly 14.7% and surpassing the total arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus in the initial nine months of the year.

 

Tourist arrivals from the UK had increased by 10.8% in September 2017 as compared to September 2016 and a rise of 6.2% was recorded for tourists in Russia.

 

The spike was also recorded from other essential tourist markets like Germany (65.5%), Sweden (15.1%), Israel (77.5%). As a marked contrast to that a decline of 21.5% tourist arrivals from Ukraine was recorded.

 

Russia and the United Kingdom continue to be the main sources of tourism for Cyprus for September 2017 with proportions of nearly 34.3% and 25.1% respectively. And arrivals from Israel comprise 6.5%, Sweden 4.6% and Germany 4.5% of all arrivals.
