Tourism boom brings wealth to Tibet’s Lulang township

By making the most of its remarkable highland landscape, Lulang in Nyingchi city, the Tibet autonomous region in Southwest China, has eradicated its lack wealth and found a path to riches.


Lulang is situated at an altitude of about 3,380 meters and has an average annual temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. The beautiful township is known for its year round pleasant weather particularly during the summera.


In Tibetan language, “Lulang” symbolizes “the place where the God lives”. Back in 2019, around 830,000 tourists visited the county and generated an income of 78.52 million yuan ($12.15 million). Many locals in this region manage homestay businesses, with a family earning between 300,000 to 700,000 yuan annually.
