Morocco experienced a spike in tourism arrivals, with the number of tourists reaching 5.9 million at the end of the first five months of 2024.
Morocco invested last year $8 billion to boost its tourism sector, Tourism Minister Fatima-Zahra Ammor said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a hearing session at the House of Representatives, Minister Ammor emphasized globally recognized brands’ growing interest in investing in Morocco.

Foreign investments in Morocco are pivotal in accelerating and expanding investments, particularly in tourist accommodations and entertainment offerings, the minister argued.

In addition to investments, Minister Ammor also shed light on the establishment of Regional Development Companies (SDRs) tailored explicitly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The minister proudly introduced the “Go Siyaha” initiative, which she said is aimed at bolstering support for 1,700 tourist-centric enterprises across the nation.
She equally recalled Morocco’s ambitious vision for the tourism sector to bring 26 million tourists by 2030.
To reach this goal, the country has implemented the 2023-2026 roadmap, which is backed by a substantial budget of $6.1 billion.
The plan is already yielding promising results, the minister insisted, adding that the roadmap is focusing on a novel approach to tourism offerings, prioritizing the immersive experiences of tourists across nine thematic areas and five transversal domains.

The number of tourists flocking to the North African country reaching 5.9 million, up 15% compared to the previous year.
The positive momentum is set to continue during the summer season, the minister announced.
“We have meticulously planned promotions, air travel options, and hospitality experiences to ensure an exceptional experience for our visitors,” she said.
“The momentum in our tourism industry is undeniable, and we approach the future with unwavering determination.”
