Ramen Deka, the Vice-Chairman from State Innovation & Transformation Aayog (SITA), inaugurated an entire day Tourism Conclave “Rediscovering Sivasagar” at Yuvadol, Sivasagar. The conclave was held by District Administration, Sivasagar in association with State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), Assam.
The conference was graced with the presence of the Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Charaideo Paul Baruah, ADC Bitupan Neog along with the representatives of SITA, and Tourism Department among others. Hon’ble Vice-Chairman Ramen Deka explained different types of Tourism like religious tourism, stress-free tourism and entertainment tourism. He said that dissimilar to past tourists going for pilgrimage, tourists now prefer visiting places for recreation and entertainment.
For boosting tourism, Deka highlighted the significance of hygiene and sanitation and appropriate placement of toilets around the tourist sites. He emphasized that with the aim of upholding tourism, it is important to instill a sense of belongingness or ownership of the tourist places.
Citing examples of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Deka said that tea tourism could be promoted along with setting up of economy hotels with lavish amenities. With a sustainable expansion of a state, eco-tourism could be promoted simultaneously. He opined that the Government is making all efforts to develop Sivasagar into a tourist heritage and SITA is always prepared to assist them in that undertaking.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav conveyed a speech, emphasizing the problems and future possibilities of the Sivasagar district.
