Tourism cooperation forum in Maldives, attracts Chinese visitors

MaleIn order to expand tourism ties between Maldives and China a forum on China-Maldives Tourism Cooperation was held in Maldives aimed at attracting more Chinese tourist to visit the holiday island.

 

 

Several government officials attended the forum along with leading travel operators from Maldives and China.

 

 

During the forum the Maldivian Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer stated that Chinese tourists made immense contribution to Maldives tourism and also helped in the infrastructural development. For the past five years China has been the number one in tourist arrival for the past few years.

 

 

Minister Zameer said that this particular forum is a significant step in increasing the number of Chinese tourist. It will help in enhancing the relationship between the two countries under the Belt and Road Initiative which wants to attract a minimum of 1 million Chinese tourists in the next five years.

 

 

Maldives anticipates more Chinese investors to the country under the Belt and Road initiative.

 

 

This was the first event organised by the  tourism ministries of China and Maldives. The Chinese Ambassador Zhang Lizhong said that it was an important measure to implement the consensus of the two countries and further deepen the cooperation in various fields.

 

 

The China- Maldives mutual beneficial cooperation will bring concrete benefits to the Maldivian people and will be in the common interest of the two countries.

 

Du Jiang from China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism stated that more  Chinese tourists see the Maldives as the first choice for vacation, family trip and honeymoon.

 

 

The Chinese side want to develop the industrial cooperation with the Maldives for mutual benefit, openness and inclusiveness. There will also be the provision for policy, information and legal support for the Chinese companies for better tourism investment and business operation.

 

 

Maldives Tourism Ministry, China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Chinese Embassy in Maldives had co-organised the forum  and during the event a  Memorandum of Understanding between China Association of Travel Service and Maldives Association of Tourism Industry was signed.
