After receiving a lot of criticism for the debatable circular flagging ‘unfounded objections against representatives by women employees’, the Tourism Department of Kerala has canceled it.

The circular was dated June 17, and was issued by Krishna Teja, the Tourism Director. It was canceled after the interference of PA Mohammed Riyas, the Tourism Minister of Kerala.

The circular had asked the staff of the department, predominantly women, to not file grievances against the officials regarding unfounded claims and accusations.

The circular said that the particulars of complainants should be kept in record. In keeping with the circular, many are giving rise to unjustifiable allegations while some are retreating from the complaints during enquiry of the department.

The move attracted criticism with many saying that the obvious purpose is to disguise problems and witch-hunt the complainants. Even women associations raised their complaints. The matter was brought to the notice of the minister and he canceled the circular.
