In the first half of this year, tourism revenue of the United Arab Emirates’ exceeded $5 billion. A strong performance is predictable this winter with neighboring Qatar hosting the FIFA World Cup.
Hotel occupancy went up over 40 percent on Covid-hit 2021, said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE prime minister and the ruler of Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed said that the revenue of their tourism sector outshined 19 billion dirhams ($5.2 billion) in the first half of this year. The total number of hotel guests touched 12 million, attaining 42 percent growth, and a robust tourism performance can be predicted during the winter.
Dubai, which is a well-recognized holiday destination, is hoping to host an enormous amount of football fanatics during the World Cup in November and December, since there is a shortage of lodging in Qatar.
Dubai is among those Gulf cities functioning regular shuttle flights to and from Qatar during the World Cup. This would allow fans to stay outside the expensive state and still be present at the games.
Dubai airport, which is the world’s busiest for worldwide travel before the pandemic, controlled 27.8 million passengers during the first half of this year.
Sheikh Mohammed said that this year’s economic progression has surpassed 22 percent with foreign trade more than one trillion dirhams ($272 billion), compared to 840 billion dirhams prior to the pandemic.
