Tourism industry has ‘great faith’ in Gavoka

The appointment of Viliame Gavoka as Tourism Minister gives the hospitality industry great faith.

This is the view of Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort general manager Darren Shaw.

Mr Shaw congratulated and welcomed the new coalition government led by the Honourable Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, as well as the Honourable Viliame Gavoka’s appointment as Minister for Tourism.

To have the Minister for Tourism from such a strong hospitality background gives them great faith that the two parties will work together proactively for the best results.

It’s an exciting time for Fiji and heading into 2023 they are enthusiastic regarding their outlook for the year ahead.

Mr Gavoka held extensive management roles in the local tourism industry before joining politics where he was chairman of the then Fiji Visitors Bureau.

The deputy Prime Minister also met with his ministry’s staff yesterday where he was updated on the Department of Tourism’s work programme.

This includes the National Sustainable Tourism Framework that seeks to set the strategic direction of the Fijian tourism industry in building back better.
