The tourism industry of Slovenian awarded for sustainability

The tourism industry of Slovenian has yet another cause to rejoice. Not only can it draw visitors with it gorgeous landscapes and alluring offers, but now it can persuade people with the sustainable practices of the country as yet another selling point.

 

Of late, the names of the recipients of the Sustainable Top 100 Destination Awards have been declared in several different categories – and Slovenia managed to take home many of them.

 

The Slovenian Tourist Board has proclaimed that the country got recognition in two important aspects. On the one hand, its general approach toward sustainability in tourism was received extraordinarily well.

 

The national programme of the country for sustainable tourism development reached the highest spot in the Best of Europe category additionally strengthening the belief of the authorities that the introduction of sustainable modes into tourism sector is the best path for the growth of the industry.

 

The sustainability scheme of Slovenia has been developing constantly for the last six years and comprises hundreds of stakeholders aiming for promoting sustainable practices in the tourism branch.

 

In the meantime, Bled also grabbed an award for best practice for its initiations in lessening local waste. In the Earth Award category, it was placed third. Thanks to the strides locals and authorities have taken in maintaining one of Slovenia’s most well-recognized locations free from waste materials.

 

Stakeholders and citizens have remained associated in a waste-free project in the last six years, severely holding on to the principles of sustainability – nothing goes to waste and everything that can be recycled is recycled.
