The event was intended to entertain and inform the guests about Ireland and bring the destination to life, presenting new themes and story ideas for this year to the media and influencers.
The event involved a full day of presentations, networking, along with interactive sessions including a cooking demo by Tracey’s Farmhouse Kitchen in Killinchy and a whiskey tasting.
Other organizations showcasing at the event included Galway 2020, Kingdom Food Tours, the National Trust, Clonalis House and MoLI (Museum of Literature Ireland).
Tourism Ireland also highlighted its new ‘twinning’ initiative for 2020, which will have each overseas market twinning with a specific region in Ireland. Italy is twinning with the Dingle Peninsula as part of the campaign.
Niamh Kinsella, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Italy, said: “In 2019, we welcomed around 392,000 Italian visitors to Ireland. We are now focused on the year ahead. Our aim is to continue to grow Italian visitor numbers and, in particular, to encourage more of them to come and explore our regions and less-visited attractions during the off-peak season. We’re delighted to unveil the new destination brand for Northern Ireland, Embrace a Giant Spirt.”
