Tourism Malaysia grabs attentions at PATA Gold Awards 2022

Tourism Malaysia has 3 out of 23 Gold Award categories that is the Travel Video and Culture, Travel Photograph, presented at the PATA Gold Awards 2022. It was arranged by the Pacific Asia Travel Association.

The Travel Photograph Gold Award was given for its gripping photo entry of a man flying a wau, the traditional kite of Malaysia by the coast of Terengganu. Taking the snap of one of the most identifiable symbols of the culture of Malaysia, flying a wau is both a cultural icon as well as a precious part of the cultural heritage of the country.

The purpose of the award-winning photo is to get the unique craft of a wau as well; starting right from seeing its creation to watching it fly through the air would be an overwhelming and unique experience. It’s not a rare scene even in modern times, to see people in Kelantan and Terengganu flying kites, mainly when it’s the time of harvest.

On the other hand, Sarawak Tourism Board, deservingly landed two Gold Awards from the Travel Video and Culture categories. Its promotional video with the title – A Journey Awaits by Faithworks Studios have grabbed the Travel Video Gold Award, inviting travellers to Sarawak through its depiction of the charming beauty and culture of the state along with its heritage, and natural wonders at the same time.
