The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, will host the inaugural Global Tourism Investors’ Summit (GTIS) in New Delhi from May 17-19, 2023, as part of India’s G20 Presidency.

Tourism has emerged as one of the most rapidly increasing economic sectors, with substantial implications for trade, job creation, investment, infrastructure development, and social inclusion.

GTIS 2023, organised in collaboration with Invest India as the Investment Promotion and Facilitation partner and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as the Industry Partner, aims to provide a common platform for interactions between global and domestic players as well as to explore investment opportunities in the Indian travel and hospitality sector.

Arvind Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, stated that in order to showcase investible opportunities to investors, 25 states have shared 350+ investable projects with the Ministry of Tourism, with a total investment potential of around Rs. 64,000 crore.

He also stated that GTIS will host a number of knowledge sessions on topics such as sustainability, digitalization, technology, insights, state-specific issues, and other tourism sub-sectors. These seminars will help to facilitate business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) interactions.

According to K B Kachru, Member of the CII National Committee on Tourism and Hospitality, GTIS is the ideal venue for all tourism and hospitality sectors operating outside of India to visit, experience the vast Indian market, and capitalise on the available investment prospects.
