Tourism NI slashes funding for few events in Northern Ireland

An arrangement for supporting events in Northern Ireland would not be functioned by Tourism NI this
year owing to financial restraints.


Candidates for the national tourism events sponsorship scheme were stated that it was an unfortunate
decision.


It means that no sponsorship money would be obtainable for numerous important happenings.

That is due to the reason that the financial plan given to the tourism organization from Stormont’s division for the economy is considerably lower than in current years.


The arrangement was targeted toward backing events with at least 1,000 visitors and minimum profits and spending of £50,000 for supporting development in the number of visitors and their spending.


It has beforehand backed occasions like Belfast Mela, the Balmoral Show, Carnival of Colors in Londonderry, Armagh Food & Cider Weekend and Northern Ireland Science Festival among others.


Tourism NI said that they are looking forward to lessen the influence of the slashes on the broader tourism sector. It has inopportunely caused taking some challenging decisions regarding how to spend their budgets this year.


Tourism NI said that while it could not deliver backing, it is eager to recognize other ways for supporting
events and would work carefully with organizers.
