The tourism industry of CEBU is taking part in the return of international tourists, mainly from its important markets like Korea, China and Japan, starting February 10, 2022.

Alfred Reyes, president of the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu, explained that now, the tourism players are waiting for the executive order that Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia will unveil in terms of the foreign guest entry from visa-free countries to Cebu.

Garcia in a meeting with the stakeholders of tourism including the consul generals of Korea, Japan and China, on Monday, February 7, explained that for tourism purposes, Cebu will allow fully vaccinated foreigners from non-visa required countries regardless if their country of origin accepts the Philippines’ VaxCertPH under a reciprocal arrangement.

As per Sugbo News, the news portal of the Capitol, Garcia stated that she will publish a memorandum that will pinpoint the protocols of Cebu for vaccinated international tourists, particularly taking away this reciprocal arrangement requirement, as stated by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) in its new ruling.

“The governor and stakeholders have agreed that reciprocal arrangement for vaccination proof shouldn’t be a requirement, at least in Cebu, considering that the country has long been accepting vaccinated overseas Filipino workers and returning overseas Filipinos without this requirement,” the news portal said on its Facebook page.
