The tourism sector in Singapore will receive a fresh injection of almost half a billion dollars for supporting its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, with Singapore aiming to connect back with the world, said the Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan.

Singapore has reopened its borders to all fully vaccinated travelers, without any COVID-19 testing and quarantine.

Speaking at the Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) Tourism Industry Conference, Mr. Tan said that the funding will be used to support and endure strategic manpower capabilities in tourism, balance business costs, and also amplify Singapore’s international recovery plans “in the coming years”.

“This year, we will double down on our effort for SingapoReimagine, our international recovery campaign to welcome travellers to realize their passion for travel through fresh and innovative experiences in Singapore,” said Mr. Tan.
In the past two years, the Singapore Government provided the tourism sector with more than S$1 billion to lessening costs like rental and license fee waivers, and for supporting jobs and capabilities development.
