Tourists have been asked to stay away from Cornwall except if they have pre-booked a trip due to a huge surge in Covid cases.
As per latest figures, Cornwall has 770 cases per 100,000 people, doubling the previous week’s figure.
The UK also recorded 174 new Covid-related deaths on Tuesday, which is the highest figure since March.
Malcolm Bell, head of Visit Cornwall, is urging visitors to cooperate to keep the region safe.
Bell said: “We are asking people not to come unless they have booked ahead and request they take a lateral flow test before, during and after their stay so that people can be safe and help us to manage the current spike.”
About 800 of the positive cases are people living in Cornwall.
