Those who are all set to go out on a tour in the coming months are also anxious about what the ban actually signifies for them, said Radhika Sharma, who is associated with Explore India that organizes tours to the country.
Ms Sharma stated that travelers with a valid visa should be fine but people who have not yet applied for that, she added that they’re not sure if those people are going to get it.
After India’s declaration on Thursday, travel issues for tourists are among many such concerns that have stood up when it said that for Canadian citizens, it was suspended visa processing, citing safety concerns for its staff.
This decision followed a public allegation by Mr. Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister, that India might have played the role of the murder of a Sikh separatist in Canada. India has called the accusation “ridiculous”.
To India, Canada is among the top five source countries in terms of international visitors, as per tourism data, with over 80,000 Canadians travelling to India in 2021.
For many of 1.86 million Indian residents living in Canada, the impact of the visa ban is less troublesome, however some say it has highlighted some questions about their future in Canada.
