Not able to travel to international destinations for two years in the wake of the pandemic, this Durga Puja, tourists from Kolkata are once again visiting South-East Asian countries. In the upcoming winter vacation, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia are grabbing the inclination charts.

Singapore Tourism officials organized a travel-trade roadshow in Kolkata and said that India has come up as Singapore’s second-largest source market. More than 2,19,000 Indian travelers visited Singapore in the first half of this year. Among them, a good amount of tourists came from top metro cities like Kolkata along with Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.

GB Srithar, the Regional Director of India, Middle East and South Asia of Singapore Tourism Board said that Singapore has restructured their travel policy after the pandemic. Now, fully immunized travelers can visit Singapore and they do not require undergoing any protocols for quarantine. No mask is also needed in public places.

However, masks are advisable in closed areas like boardroom meetings but not at restaurants or clubs. Bars and restaurants are now functioning like pre-pandemic days to boost tourism. Travelers from India are now spending at least one day more than before the pandemic average of 6.1 days.

These comprise the highly “Instagrammable” Museum of Ice Cream; the Slingshot, which is a new adventure ride along the iconic Singapore River and SkyHelix Sentosa, which is Singapore’s first outdoor panoramic allure allowing visitors picturesque sights of Sentosa and the Southern Waterfront.
