Tourists spent almost $13 billion in Wisconsin last year

As per a new study, tourists spent almost $13 billion in Wisconsin last year, with the state getting back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Wisconsin State Journal,the state Department of Tourism study from Tourism Economics stated that tourism spending went up to 31.1% compared to 2020.

Every single county in Wisconsinwitnessed a double-digit surge in direct spending, which ranged from 14% extra in Rusk County to 54.6% extra in Sauk County, which boasts ofa lot of attractions in the Wisconsin Dells region.

Last year, the impact of tourism on the whole in the state was $20.9 billion, said thestudy.

Tourism officials in Wisconsin are hopeful that this year, the state will reach the record results of $13.6 billion in direct tourism expenditure and $22.2 billion in economic impact on the whole. Both these records were witnessed in 2019.

In the western part of Wisconsin, La Crosse County witnessed a direct expendituresurge of 33.4 percent. Monroe County witnessed the largestupsurge at 36.6 percent and it was followed by Jackson County at 33.8 percent.

Trempealeau County witnessed an increase of 27.2 percent. Vernon County witnessed a 22.6 percent growth in spending.
