With Covid cases increasing in Valley, all tourists visiting Kashmir by road have been asked to go through corona virus tests in Kulgam district.
Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Aijaz Asad chaired a meeting to assess the corona virus situation.
Asad said that the testing for travelers coming by road would start in Lower Munda area in a couple of days as this would assist in restricting the spread of virus in the Valley.
The deputy commissioner said that mass vaccination of hotel staff, drivers, houseboat staff and others would commence across all tourist destinations.
A special training programme would be carried on for staff members to make sure that all standard operating procedures are followed strictly while dealing with the tourists. Asad urged the tourism stakeholders to ensure proper cleanliness and hygiene in all hotels. The deputy commissioner also urged hoteliers to keep two rooms available for segregation of tourists if they test positive.
Various tourism stakeholders from Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg took part in the meeting.
The tourism players placed various demands, including hiring of separate hotel accommodation for seclusion of infected tourists, permission to tourists to the Valley only after getting their RT-PCR test reports, improvement in testing facility at the Airport and sanitation of hotels.
