The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) inaugurated a scheme at a
village in West Siang region of Arunachal Pradesh for encouraging traditional eco-tourism.

The scheme was inaugurated at Kabu village in the region by Partho Saha, general manager of NABARD.

Saha said that the enormous prospect of Arunachal for eco-tourism delivers an idyllic escape for city people looking for opportunities for relaxing among unspoiled nature.

He said that the tourism business has the capability to provide sustainable earnings for stakeholders without troubling nature. Young Men’s Adventure Club (YMAC), the executing agency for the scheme, carries the accountability of alerting the businesspersons regarding the significance of preservation, said Saha. He said that other components of this project are conserving, upholding and publicizing the exclusive principles of the Galo community.

Saha also stated that the home stays and the planned Ethnographic Center would be an effort of the project associates to create a space for the local food, knitting and handiwork, folktales, tribal beliefs, mythology, living and family system. While these can give rise to massive curiosity for tourists, they have the possibility to offer considerable income for all stakeholders.
