Heathrow Express confirmed that there would be no services in either direction today (Tuesday) with passengers advised to seek alternative travel methods to and from the airport.

Elizabeth Line services to Heathrow were also hit together with Great Western Railway services from London Paddington station towards Abbey Wood.

Network Rail warned of “major disruption” until midday due to damaged overhead wires at Hayes & Harlington affecting all services.

Passengers are strongly advised only to travel if necessary and to please check before they travel, Network Rail said.

Destinations affected alongside Heathrow included Cardiff, Cheltenham, Bristol, Newbury, Reading, Oxford, Penzance and Swansea.

Travellers to and from Heathrow were urged to use the Piccadilly Line on the London Underground or buses.

Mourners travelling between London and Windsor are battling severe rail delays with no trains heading west departing from Paddington station.

The disruption has been in place since 6.30am this morning (Monday, September 19) after damaged overhead wires caused a halt to all services.

Network Rail has said that a shuttle service is operating between Reading and Slough via Maidenhead for people who are travelling from the west who are trying to get to Windsor.
