Travel and tourism’s input to the GDP of the UAE grows 60.2 per cent

The contribution of the travel and tourism segment to the GDP of the UAE increased 60.2 per cent last year to closely Dh167 billion. It is expected to reach Dh180.6 billion by the end of this year, marking an 8.3 per cent development compared to the year before.


An economic integration committee seminar, chaired by the Minister of Economy, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, and joined by the Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, deliberated a variety of important financial concerns, comprising admittance to rule backing the development of new economy segments in the UAE, along with collaboration between the federal and local experts responsible with the execution of these rules.


The economy minister in his speech revised conspicuous financial growth pointers realized by the
UAE last year, comprising GDP development that equalled Dh1.62 trillion at continuous prices, increasing
7.6 per cent, whereas present values reaching Dh1.86 trillion, rising by over Dh337 billion, increasing 22.1 per cent compared to 2021.


As per a report by the World Tourism and Travel Council, in 2022, global visitor expenditure touched
Dh117.6 billion, growing 65.3 per cent compared to 2021, while local tourism expenditure in 2022came to a total of Dh46.9 billion, amounting to 35.7 per cent.
