There were several delays on all routes to and from London Waterloo railway station and this sort of a disruption is likely to last all throughout the day on account of a points problem.
Platform 1 was shut down at the station, implying that the services might be cancelled or revised, as confirmed by National Rail.
South Western Railway has been advised that a series of points outside platform one at London Waterloo are faulty, as stated by the rail operator. The engineers were aware though that the nature of the defect simply implies that the engineers were incapable of fixing the issue until close of service last evening.
They were continually working on coming up with an effectual service plan to make sure that the disruption is kept to a minimum during the day and more importantly during the morning and evening peak.
With an aim to reduce the delays to trains certain services might have to be changed or even revised at a short notice.
Meanwhile the delays are occurring at the same time as an industrial action by the RMT union that is impacting the Southern services. Though Southern said that it would be running a normal service ‘on most routes’ there would be certain alterations.
Southern trains to and from Guildford would not be operating putting pressure on South Western Railway that is being affected by the platform closure at Waterloo.
