Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials expect that 263 million passengers and crew members will pass through security checkpoints throughout U.S. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. It represents a four per cent rise as compared to 2018 when TSA screened 250,918,233 passengers and crew.
Transportation Security Administration has increased airport security staffing levels, provided a 20 per cent increase in overtime funds to local TSA leadership and deployed additional passenger screening canine teams.
TSA continues to deploy new technologies and explore new ways to increase efficiency and security effectiveness, including automated screening lanes, computed tomography, credential authentication technology and more.
Their dedicated transportation security officers, inspectors, air marshals, and support personnel are working around the clock to ensure traveller security during this record-breaking travel season.
Passengers too have a role to play. They can help by arriving early and prepared for the security screening process. Packing carry-on bags so they can be easily screened, and ensuring that neither they nor their bags contain prohibited items will reduce the screening time.
Transportation Security Administration had screened record more than 108 million (108,558,233) passengers and crew between March 14 and April 28 as per TSA data. It reflects that more and more people are flying through America.
