TUI recently announced that it has started a 100-day countdown to mark the launch of its latest venture, TUI River Cruises. The project was scheduled to launch around the month of March this year but failed to do so due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 and its impact on global travel. The ships will now set sail starting November, with special Christmas and New Year itineraries that has already been planned. A full programme will also be offered starting from April 2021.
Final preparations for the launch are now underway following the decision of Foreign & Commonwealth Office to remove a travel ban for river cruises. The company also announced new excursions for winter season this year. All three ships – TUI Isla, TUI Maya and TUI Skyla – went through a major multi-million-pound makeover, taking 12-to-18 weeks to transform them into floating hotels.
Guests will be able to avail a choice of seven cabin types per ship with three cabins for solo travellers. There will be 36 suites across the three ships for travellers who want a more luxurious trip. All suites come with walk in wardrobes, double French balconies and spacious bathrooms. The river cruise line offers 32 itineraries along the Danube, Rhine, Moselle, Main and Dutch and Belgian waterways. In addition, there is also the flexibility of 3 to 14-night sailings for those wanting a short break or those opting for a longer getaway.
Chris Hackney, Managing Director of Cruise, TUI U.K. & Ireland, said in a statement due to the change in government advice on river cruising, holidaymakers now have the chance to explore Europe from its rivers and waterways. He informed that the company is working hard to prepare itself for first sailings. He mentioned that with so much to discover on a river cruise, TUI has placed exploration at the heart of its offer.
