Tunisia records 64% rise in tourism receipts earning over 1 billion dinar in Q1 2023

According to figures issued by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), Tunisia’s cumulative tourism income surpassed the billion-dinar mark in Q1 2023, increasing 64% over the same period of previous year.


Total labour income increased by 8.5% to 1.9 billion dinars, up from 1.7 billion dinars at the end of March 2022, according to Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP), citing the BCT.


Similarly, external debt services increased by 23% in the first three months of the current year reaching 2.4 billion dinars.


Net foreign exchange holdings fell from 22.7 billion dinars (122 days of imports) at the start of April 2022 to almost 22.1 billion dinars (95 days of imports) on Friday, April 7.


As of March 7, 2023, the total volume of refinancing topped 16.5 billion dinars, representing a 46.8% increase over the same period in 2022.
