Turks and Caicos Islands Cruise Tourism Surges to Over One Million Passengers in 2025

Published on December 31, 2025

The Turks and Caicos Islands have reached a major milestone in their cruise tourism industry, with over one million passengers visiting between January and November 2025. Experience Turks and Caicos, the official destination marketing and management organization (DMMO), reported that the Grand Turk Cruise Port hosted 1.1 million passengers during this period, marking a four percent increase compared to the same months in 2024.

Record-Breaking November

November 2025 saw a particularly strong performance, with 111,727 cruise passengers arriving on the islands—a 17 percent increase from the previous year. This surge in arrivals can be attributed to the addition of five extra cruise calls to Grand Turk, reinforcing the island’s growing popularity as a premier cruise destination. The month demonstrated how the destination’s cruise sector has continued to gain momentum, even amid the challenges faced earlier in the year.

October Setbacks and Resilience

Although the month of October experienced a decline in cruise arrivals, with a 53 percent drop compared to October 2024, this decrease was primarily caused by disruptions related to Hurricane Melissa. The storm resulted in the cancellation of three cruise calls and 10 fewer scheduled calls than the previous year. However, despite the setbacks, the overall annual performance remained positive. November’s recovery highlights the resilience of the Turks and Caicos Islands, demonstrating that the destination’s cruise industry remains strong and poised for continued growth.

Peak Travel Months

The year’s highest cruise passenger numbers were recorded in January, February, and July, with 144,039 passengers in January, 138,931 in February, and 127,503 in July. These months were particularly busy, indicating the islands’ sustained demand among international travellers. These strong months reflect the appeal of the destination, which has become a prime spot for cruise lines operating in the Caribbean.

Sustainable Tourism for Long-Term Growth

The significant growth in cruise tourism on the islands not only signals increased popularity but also highlights the ongoing focus on sustainable tourism practices. The growth of the cruise industry in the Turks and Caicos Islands has been carefully managed to ensure it provides long-term economic benefits to Grand Turk and surrounding communities. These efforts are in line with the destination’s commitment to maintaining a balance between welcoming tourists and preserving the environment and local culture.

A Bright Future for the Turks and Caicos Islands

Looking ahead, the Turks and Caicos Islands are set to build on this momentum and continue positioning themselves as a top-tier luxury tourism hub. With their pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and world-renowned resorts, the islands are attracting travellers seeking both relaxation and adventure. The destination is not only a popular stop for cruise ships but also an ideal spot for those looking for a luxurious and unforgettable holiday experience.
