Turks & Caicos Hits Record 2M Visitors in 2024, Expands Luxury Tourism & U.S. Flights

Turks & Caicos Islands achieved a record-breaking tourism year in 2024, welcoming nearly 2 million visitors and surpassing pre-pandemic tourism levels, according to the Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board. With significant growth in both air and cruise travel, the destination solidified its position as a top luxury travel hotspot in the Caribbean.

Tourism Soars: Air & Cruise Arrivals Reach New Highs

In 2024, Turks & Caicos recorded 1,959,563 arrivals, reflecting:

• 734,308 air arrivals, a 10.66% increase from 2023.
• 1,225,255 cruise visitors, marking a 30.48% surge compared to the previous year.
• 311 cruise ship calls at Grand Turk Cruise Center, up 19.16% from 2023.

The Turks & Caicos Islands Ports Authority attributes this cruise tourism boom to increased international travel demand and expanded port capacity.

New & Upcoming Luxury Developments

Turks & Caicos’ luxury tourism sector continues to grow, with new resorts and residential developments set to enhance visitor experiences:

Opened in Late 2024:

• South Bank by Grace Bay Resorts – A residential resort & marina.
• The Strand – A sustainable beachfront villa collection.
• The Palms – Reopened after an $18M renovation, featuring a Mexican-fusion restaurant and oceanfront infinity pool.
• The Alexandra Resort – Introduced 41 new oceanfront and garden suites.

New Openings in 2025 & Beyond:

• Salterra Resort & Spa (March 8, 2025) – A 100-room luxury resort in South Caicos, part of The Luxury Collection.
• Andaz Turks & Caicos (Late 2025) – Hyatt’s first Caribbean resort, with 59 rooms and 74 residences.
• The Loren at Turtle Cove (2026) – Featuring beachfront villas, condos, and guest suites.
• The Point & Kempinski Grace Bay (2026-2027) – Adding high-end accommodations & eco-tourism offerings.

These projects, backed by the Turks & Caicos Islands Investment Agency, will boost employment, introduce new attractions, and elevate luxury tourism standards.

According to Skyscanner’s Travel Trends Report, Grand Turk saw a 528% increase in U.S. travel searches, fueled by its world-class diving, cultural heritage, and rustic charm.

First Direct Flight from U.S. to South Caicos

Starting March 15, 2025, American Airlines will launch a Miami-to-South Caicos route, operating twice weekly. The Turks & Caicos Civil Aviation Authority expects this historic flight to increase accessibility to the secluded island’s pristine beaches, marine activities, and luxury retreats.
