Tuscany is drawing the international tourists with the architectural wonders with geothermal features. The number of international tourists’ arrival in Tuscany reached by 3 to 4%.
Tuscany is a popular tourist location n the world. It is actually positive to hear that not only the natural and architectural wonders of the region draws tourists, but also the geothermal features of the region.
Tourism of Tuscany plays crucial for geothermal plants that they fit in the surrounding landscape and to promote sustainable development in the region, without distorting the identity of the landscape and culture.
According to tourists’ data provided by the Center for Tourism Studies (CST) in Florence that there were 120,000 tourist within the six geothermal municipalities involved in the Tuscany – Steam Hills tourist guide recorded in 2016, and a considerable part of these tourists chose to go to this piece of Tuscany just to discover the wonders of geothermal energy, industrially used for the first time in the world in Tuscany.
So much so that the data (updated to 2017) released to date by Enel Green Power witness the arrival of over 60,000 tourists in the landmarks of the Tuscan geothermal energy utilisation, confirming the record already marked in 2016 of 60,500 tourists.
In particular, the Larderello Geothermal Museum (in the Municipality of Pomarance) registered about 27,000 visits, while the Biancane Park in the municipal territory of Monterotondo Marittimo registered over 17,000 visits.
Approximately 6,000 visitors accessed the Park of the Fumaroles of Sasso Pisano, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, to the natural events of San Federigo and others spread throughout the territory, to the geothermal trekking route connecting the Fumaroles to the Biancane, to which are added 10,000 attendees of the 2017 Open Center and of the summer events promoted by Enel Green Power and institutions in the traditional area of Larderello, Monterotondo Marittimo, Castelnuovo VdC and Monteverdi Marittimo or in the areas of Radicondoli, Chiusdino, Montieri, and Monte Amiata Grosseto Piancastagnaio.
