According to the United States Geological Survey, Indonesia has been hit by two large earthquakes that had hit around 9.28 p.m. GMT and 10.33 GMT.
Indonesia once more shook at the end of the last month after two large quakes with a magnitude of 6 and 4.9 on the Richter scale that had left the region of Ambon in fear that quakes could erupt.
An estimated 350,000 people live in the city of Ambon.
These quakes erupted a short while after the island of Bali witnessed a volcano eruption when Mount Agung sent a mushroom cloud of ash into the sky earlier this week.
Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) asserted that the eruption had taken place around 11.50 a.m. local time 3.50 a.m. GMT.
Spokesperson Sutopo Purwo Nugroho disclosed that there was ‘no follow-up eruption’ after the mighty scare.
He then went on to add that there was no follow-up eruption and that the exclusion zone is at a 4kilometres radius. The ash cloud has not halted nay flights as yet and is out of the Indonesian island. But, the situation is being monitored by the authorities closely.
The alert status was recently lowered after the implementation of its highest level during volatile activity in September.
