As a part of its updated guidelines regarding the usage of face coverings in conference and exhibition centres, the U.K. Government recently announced that wearing face coverings inside exhibition and conference centres across England would be mandatory from now. The same rule would also be active for visitor attractions and entertainment venues, such as museums, galleries, cinemas, theatres, concert halls, and cultural and heritage sites.

Though business events are not specifically singled out, according to the context of the guidelines, wearing of face coverings would be compulsory for the business sector too. The guidance already states that every individual should wear a face covering in indoor places even the ones not listed where others will come into contact with people they do not normally meet and observing social distancing might be difficult.

At present, business events with up to 30 people are allowed to take place in any suitable venue, but until now the compulsory usage of face coverings has not been a requirement. However, face coverings are not required in restaurants with table service, bars, and pubs. If certain indoor premises have a café or seating area to eat and drink, such as larger events venues or hotels, visitors would be allowed to remove their face covering in such area only. It would also be compulsory for visitors to put back the face covering upon leaving the seating area. The latest rules would be active in England but does not apply to Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland.
