chinaA senior marketing expert stated that the U.S tourism operators were building programs for longer-staying Chinese visitors who will not just focus on  shopping, but also have a deeper experience of American culture and society.

Tom Garzilli, chief marketing officer of Brand USA, an organization dedicated to marketing the United States as a premier travel destination said that the numbers of Chinese visitors keep growing and are gradually becoming sophisticated travellers.

The initial interest of the Chinese tourists was to come and shop but over time they really got to see and learn that there’s so many more experiences that they can have. There’s a lot more information available to Chinese tourists giving them an opportunity  to have a much deeper, broader experience when they come.

China has become the number one market for U.S. travel and tourism exports as per the Brand USA.

US is the largest market in terms of spending and in 2016, almost 3 million Chinese people visited the United States as compared with less than 400,000 in 2007, and spent 33 billion U.S. dollars.

Garzilli further added that his organization is set to launch a new 3D documentary film about American music which he believes will be well received by Chinese audiences.

America’s Musical Journey is narrated by Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman and it follows Grammy Award nominated singer who traces the roots of American music and follows the footsteps of Louis Armstrong.

Brand USA’s first film, America Wild: National Parks Adventures is said to have garnered one million views in October last year on Youku, a Chinese YouTube-like service platform
